Last Update: Friday April 2, 2010
End of Season Grooming Plan: The grooming crew is wrapping up activities for the season. There is still plenty of snow out there and the crust skiing will likely last through May! This weekend will probably see the last grooming on the Valley Floor and if it happens, it will only be a partial groom. Priest and Trout Lake trails will probably be groomed a couple more times through April. Check the Grooming Tweets below for the most recent information.
This will be the last regular update to the grooming report for the season. A big thanks to the entire grooming crew: Peter Rowland, Rich Hamilton, Milt Spor, Tom Treder, Edwin Schlapfer, Town Parks Staff, and TNA Board members Ivar Eidsmo and Bill de Alva!
VALLEY FLOOR: The Valley Floor may see one last partial grooming this afternoon or tomorrow (Saturday) morning. Check the grooming Tweets below for the latest update. Crust skiing will still be possible on the Valley Floor for another week or two.
PRIEST LAKE: Priest Lake trails were partially groomed on Wednesday. New snow since then will make for conditions best suited to classic touring. Presently, no grooming is scheduled until next Wednesday. There is plenty of snow left at Priest - the crust skiing should be good in the mornings through most of April.
TROUT LAKE: Trout Lake trails have not been groomed in several weeks. Conditions will be best suited to classic touring until further grooming occurs. The crust skiing on Lizard Head Pass should be possible through most of May. The best crust conditions are usually present a day or two after new snowfall. If more than several inches of new snow has accumulated a day of sun is needed to reset the crust.
AVALANCHE DANGER: There are several points along the RR Grade with adjacent (south side) slopes that are prone to small avalanche slides. Skiers should exercise caution at these locations (anywhere there is a slope greater than 30 degrees with the toe of the slope ending on the RR Grade trail).
Please do not park along Trout Lake Road or at the snowplow turnaround. If you are unsure whether your vehicle can make it all the way to the parking lot, please access the trail from Lizard Head Pass. Please remember to observe the 15 mph speed limit on Trout Lake Road.
